Look out world – Transviolet is getting ready to take it by storm! They’re an up-and-coming alternative pop foursome based in LA with members Sarah McTaggart, Judah McCarthy, Michael Panek, and Jon Garcia. Transviolet’s catchy lyrics have gotten them mentions from the likes of Harry Styles and Katy Perry, and their first song “Girls Your Age” blew up on social media resulting in a performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden and lots of buzz surrounding their music.
Earlier this month, the band released a music video for their song “New Bohemia” off of their self-titled EP from last year. A sweeping mix of synth and pop, “New Bohemia” is a power song for the next generation, similar to Halsey’s “New Americana.”
According to Transviolet, “too many times we let characteristics define and, ultimately, divide us. We are not the colour of our skin or the amount of money we have in the bank. We are not our gender or our sexual orientation. We are all humans in need of love, respect, and acceptance. Everything else is a detail. That’s what the song New Bohemia is about. It’s taking a step outside of your personal bubble and looking at the world from an outsider’s perspective.” It’s our generation’s call to action that we can indeed “change the world,” even if it’s just one small step at a time. The band says that “New Bohemia is a mindset. It’s the belief that each individual has the power to change the world…We, as a generation, have the power to eliminate racism, sexism and homophobia. We, as a generation, can choose to put an end to police brutality, to war, to violence, to the destruction of our environment; but we must speak up.”
Last week, Transviolet announced that they will be the opening act for alternative rock band Twenty One Pilots on the UK leg of their tour. Starting on February 18th and ending February 29th, this leg of the tour includes ten stops. Hopefully, these sold-out shows will grow Transviolet’s fan base even more.
We’re looking forward to seeing what Transviolet has in store! Go find them on Twitter and Facebook.
