Tony Hawk is an American professional skateboarder and entrepreneur who is widely considered as the pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding and one of the most influential skateboarders of all time.   • As a child, Tony was known to be very harsh with himself. Once, after getting struck out in a baseball game, he had hidden in a ravine for hours to battle his disappointment.
  • His parents had then encouraged him to pursue his interest in skateboarding as a means to find an outlet for his hyperactive energy. He turned professional at the age of just 14 and went on to win the National Skateboard Association‘s world championship for 12 years in a row.
  • In June 1999, he had become the first-ever skateboarder to successfully land a ‘900’, a trick comprising of two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions.
